I was super excited about this shelf. I waited until it was in stock and I immediately purchased it. However, I never measured the wall that I was going to put it up against in my family room. So yes, that was dumb of me. The product pictures make it look like it's fairly tall, and in my mind 71" is tall, but against my wall it looks more like a child's playroom shelf. :) So please just learn from my mistakes and measure the space you want to put this in!!!!
So glad I splurged for something better than wayfair: this bookcase is sturdy and gorgeous and has gotten so many complements! I love this little cozy corner of my dining room. I was worried about the color, but love it. It’s black, or dark gray, but not like stark and dramatic. Don’t mind the slightly open cabinets: I knew it would be a close fit for my ginormous printer, and it doesn’t fit, so I need to find a new home for it or a new printer. Haha.
Someone else's review was right - if you're putting together the hutch version cabinet, it comes into 2 separate, independent boxes. Building the base first as a standalone, it doesn't tell you that the top should be attached to the bottom of the hutch piece, not the base piece, which is the 2nd box. There are two separate instruction books that reference each other but does not tell you this step. We had to undo to attach. Otherwise it's good value for the price.
